Be ye kind

  Be ye kind
How many times have you been in a parking lot, with your blinker on, waiting for a car to pull out of a parking space so you can pull in and then another car pulls into the space before you have the chance to?  I’ve had that happen to me many times.  I don’t know about you but whenever that’s happened in the past, I’ve wanted to ring the person’s neck that pulled into my “claimed” parking space.  If you’d be honest, you’d admit that you’ve felt the same way.  Something happened a few weeks ago that has made me consider other possibilities and I hope will make me think before I give that person that gets “my” parking space a mean looking expression.

As I was waiting for a space, with my signal on and all set to pull in, a Hummer pulled into the space that I was waiting for.  There was another vehicle pulling out right next to the other space so I wasn’t very upset about it.  But then, suddenly, the Hummer backed out of the space and as she was going by me the driver rolled down her window and apologized and said she didn’t see my signal on.  I told the young woman that it was fine, there was another space to park in, but she said she would just park up a ways.

After thinking about this I realized I needed to learn a lesson from this young woman.  I need to be ready to admit when I make a mistake and be ready to apologize for it.  I have to say, when I’ve pulled into a parking space and then realized someone else was waiting for it, I’ve just stayed there and hurried into the place that I wanted to go.  I need to be ready to be kind.  God tells us in Ephesians 4:32 “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

This is the month of February, the month of “love.”  As a Christian, I need to ready to show Christ’s love through kindness no matter what month it is and no matter what the circumstances are.  For we Christians, being kind is not an option, it is a command and one that we should be ready to practice all the time.  If we don’t show a loving heart and a kind attitude, how is the world going to believe that “God is love.”  Let’s show some love and kindness, not just to our loved ones but to a hurting world, too.  “Be ye kind...”

The moment my husband mentioned me writing a blog for women on our church’s website my heart leapt.  I had several thoughts all at once and then fear overcame all of it.  “Well, I’ve never seen a ladies blog on most churches’ websites before.”  “What would I put on it?”  “I’m not sure I could do that.”  “People go to websites to learn about the church.”  Then the prayers started and the answer came: “What better way for people to learn about Naples Baptist Temple than to read something from the pastor AND pastor’s wife?”

Hello! My name is Trish Price.  I must start by saying that I am truly humbled by not only the trust my husband has in me to have a blog but also just the fact that God has allowed me to be the wife of a pastor!

My husband and I have been married for thirty-four years.  I am pleased to say that he served in the United States Air Force for twenty-two years and ten months.  We love America and her flag!

We have two children and four grandchildren.  I enjoy being a mother and I absolutely LOVE being called ‘Mimi’ by my grandchildren!  We are normal people with normal lives.  We cry when we’re hurt and we laugh when we’re happy.  We are sinners saved by grace, Ephesians 2:8-9.  And we serve a great and mighty God!

I accepted Christ as my Saviour as a very young girl.  I wandered away from God many times in my life but He never took my salvation away.  I was ALWAYS His child.  I had to go to Him and confess my sin but God always met me with open, loving arms.  What a mighty God we serve!

We are very excited that God has chosen to use us to start a Bible-believing Baptist
Church in Naples, Florida.  I am elated about this ladies’ blog.  I sincerely want to minister to women and encourage them to live their lives for the Lord.  I have to say that is my pastor’s heart, also.  I pray you will be encouraged to live your life to be the best Christian woman God wants you to be.  We also hope that we’ll get to meet you in person at Naples Baptist Temple.

See you soon,

Trish Price
